Tracks of the Emmaville Panther

Emmaville Panther Tracks

Tracks of the Emmaville Panther, photographed by Chad Harris near Emmaville, NSW. There are two sets of prints. One set was made by a large animal which was apparently accompanied by a smaller individual. Mother and cub? The smaller prints overlap the larger ones in the lower part of the image, where the cub(?) has walked over mum's tracks. The large print appears to show 5 digits and is equipped with very large claws. This type of print is virtually identical with ones I've seen in Victoria.

The Emmaville Panther is possibly Australia's best known cryptic animal, along with the Mainland Thylacine and the Grampians Lion.
